OUR REALITY
The Bad News

We’ve been born into a world that contains both good and evil, but it wasn’t always like that.

When God created the earth and its first inhabitants, Adam & Eve, it was a perfect world, as God intended it to be. However…

Adam & Eve sinned by disobeying God’s instructions. Therefore, bringing evil into our world.
As a result of their sin, we now live in a world mixed with good and evil.
This happened because God gave us free will. We are responsible for the choices we make.
“God warned [Adam], “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
Genesis 2:16-17
“So [Eve] took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness.”
Genesis 3:6-7
OUR REALITY
I’ve Sinned?
Friend, we’ve all sinned against God!
Every single one of us have made evil choices.
How do we know what is good or evil?
Let’s take a look at the Ten Commandments.
RIGHT AND WRONG
The Ten Commandments

If you honor any other god, “energy”, or object that is not God, the Father of Jesus Christ, then you have sinned.

If you idolize anyone or anything that is not God, the Father of Jesus Christ, then you have sinned.

If you have ever misused the name of God or Jesus Christ, then you have sinned.

If you prioritize work over spending time with God and your family, then you have sinned.

If you have ever disobeyed or dishonored your parents, then you have sinned.

If you have murdered somebody, or even thought about killing somebody, then you have sinned.

If you have had sexual intercourse outside of marriage, or watched adult content, then you have sinned.

If you have ever stolen anything, then you have sinned.

If you have ever lied about anything, spread a false rumor, or gossiped, then you have sinned.

If you have ever envied someone, or something, for any reason, then you have sinned.
NOBODY’S PERFECT
We’ve All Sinned
Friend
We have all fallen short of the glory of God. Everybody has broken His commands.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23
God gave us these commands to show us how flawed we are. Without them, we would not know what sin is!
“Why, then, [were the commands] given? It was given to show people their sins.”
Galatians 3:19

God yearns to have a relationship with you, but your sins have separated you from God.
But God made a way to remove that barrier by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ.
“Your [sins] have separated you from God; your sins have hidden his face from you.”
Isaiah 59:2
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
THE GOOD NEWS
Jesus Christ
Jesus says…
“This is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

Jesus willingly accepted God’s call, committing to permanently remove humanity’s sins by paying the ultimate price—laying down His life for us once and for all.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23
“[Jesus] is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.”
1 John 2:2

The blood that Jesus shed on the cross was necessary to forgive our sins, defeat the consequences of sin, and open the door to an everlasting benefits package.
“Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”
Hebrews 9:22
“Through [Jesus] God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”
Colossians 1:20
THE GOOD NEWS
The Benefits Package

Death could not hold an innocent man, let alone the Author of Life. Jesus resurrected from the grave sealing the fate of sin and death forever, and He extends His victory over to you.
“Sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:56-57
“But God raised [Jesus] from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.”
Acts 2:24

Jesus offers you a benefits package that was always meant to be yours, but unrepentant sin stands in the way, blocking your inheritance.
“May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”
