THE ROOT CAUSE

Why Do I Feel Empty?

We were designed to have an intimate relationship with God. Therefore, the absence of God in our lives results in an empty and dissatisfied feeling.

We are relational beings and God is a relational God. Our fundamental purpose has always been to be in communion with Him.

“[God] has planted eternity in the human heart.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

“Look! I [Jesus] stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

Revelation 3:20

God intentionally left a space in our heart that cannot be filled by anything else so that we would search and find Him. Apart from God, that space cannot be filled.

“You will seek me [God] and find me when you search for me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:13

FILLING THE VOID

Jesus Christ

Jesus says…

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

John 6:35

Only Jesus Christ can fill that space in your heart. He desires to do so, but He cannot enter if there is unrepentant sin.

“Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

John 14:23

Our sin separated us from God. However, God’s immense love for us led Him to give us His only Son, removing the barrier between us, allowing Him to have His rightful place in our hearts.

“Your [sins] have separated you from God; your sins have hidden his face from you.”

Isaiah 59:2

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

Jesus understood the price of our sins, yet He considered us worthy enough to sacrifice Himself for us.

His blood has the power to wash you from all your sins.

“Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”

Hebrews 9:22

“[God] is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.”

Ephesians 1:7

Through Jesus, that emptiness in your heart will be filled with His Spirit, and you will finally be made whole.

“Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

Ephesians 3:17, 19

Salvation Prayer

Let’s say this prayer together.

Pray this aloud whether it is a whisper or a shout!

Lord Jesus, I ask that You fill my empty heart with Your Spirit and make me whole. I confess that I am a sinner and I ask that you forgive me for my sins. I’ve decided to turn away from my sins and start anew. I want a relationship with You so please come into my life, be the Lord of my life, and give me the bread that I’ve been hungering for. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen!
